Awoken in Tel Aviv

by Ross Belfer | 08.11.16

It’s not often that we are treated to a live performance by a musical artist like Teebs in Tel Aviv. So when I first caught wind of the LA-based mind-bending beatmaker’s first-ever gig in our little micro Metropolis on the Med., I jumped upon the chance to land a high-five in person.

Tel Aviv is an often stigmatized destination that, to our relief, has been gaining momentum over the past years as a secret hotspot for live performances. Artists like Alchemist, Samiyam—and now Teebs—have caught wind that there indeed lies a vibrant and obsessive music scene in the Middle East, thanks in part to musical ambassadors like CohenBeats, and the teams over at Beit Maariv, Chop Shop and Inchpersecond.

In between steps through the crevasses of Old Jaffa down to the Port, I chatted with Teebs about his feelings on finally making it over here which he referred to as a dream come true, mostly, if not fully, in thanks to the hummus. Below, a quick series of images of the man Teebs hanging in the constantly buzzing city we call home:
